Hi, I'm in CA.

Right now I enjoy 30% time with my child which is great. However my child has expressed wanting more time with me. I was wondering how difficult it is to go from 30% to 50%. Here in CA, that would mean going from ex having sole physical custody and us having joint legal custody, to us having joint physical and legal custody. Anybody have any advice how to go about slowly putting this together? Is it really difficult? Also, for 50/50 time-sharing what's an example of the schedule? Is it every other week? Every other month? 6 months a piece? Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

more time with my child

if your ex has custody of your child, and you have partial custody, what was the reason that your ex was given the main custody of your child for?was it by agreement?or by a court?did they find that he was more able to take care of the child in a more suitable invironment?have you attempted to talk with your ex to allow more time?if both parties agree then the parents can negotiate their own reasoning on allowing times spent by both parents.if not, then i would assume that you would have to prove that by allowing more visitation with your child, would be for the best intrest of the child.im not an attorney, but please consult with one, first.as long as the visitation does not conflict with the childs ordinary routins, that would destabilize the child,or endanger the child, mentally or otherwise.there should not be a problem.have the courts orderd you to pay any child-support?was it an issue durring your negotiations, then your ex,at any time can seek it,even if it were opted out,he can still seek it.agreements, and contracts enterd into by parties, are not excluded under the family releif act.in which the courts can ascert the rights of the us governments compelling governmental intrest.like i said, please consult with an attorney.good luck
