What I need to know is who has the control of my c.d.? my step-grandfather, my mom, or do I have any say in the matter?How should I go about trying to receive control of my c.d.?

Why not just get your wisdom teeth pulled? Pretty much everyone has to go through it at some point anyway, might as well do it now and save the attorney's fees you would spend trying to ascertain who has control of what.

I am just curious how old you are (over 18 or 21), and what is wrong with your wisdom teeth that your mother wants them pulled?

I have not been to a dentist since maybe 1973, when I had them checked by a fellow dental student of my brother and my teeth had nothing wrong he could use for his studies. My brother graduated and has our childhood dental records, but bought and runs a florist shop he worked summers and has never practiced. I still have all my teeth (no fillings or anything), although, I did chip a wisdom tooth with a piece of bone in a sausage or something.

Oregon Well, I am 25 years old and there is nothing wrong with my wisdom teeth . She is a dental asst. and when I was a child the dentist told me that I needed them removed. My mother is holding this over my head from childhood.She has obsessive compulsive dissorder(O.C.D.)and can't let it go. I would like to know if my mother has any say in the matter to begin with? (beside the fact that my step grandfather asked her for her opinion) Also, there is no record of a will in probate.If she had a living will what exactly happens then? Thank you!!

There is no way any of us would know how you can get "your" CD without knowing the nature of its ownership. Is it with your name and your mother's (or grandmother's ) name as a custodian? Is it in "trust for" you? At the age of 25 you should be able to take possession if it is designated for you. Was the disposition designated in a will or trust? Are there written restrictions as to its disposition?

Stepgrandfather made an error in asking your mother for permission to give it to you when permission was not needed (but please don't make the mistake of mentioning this to him, since he might get offended).

Explain that you are an adult of legal age and that you are ready to receive the proceeds of your CD and then take it from there. He will probably have a check issued in your name. What is the amount of the CD?

Your mother has no say-so in the matter but please don't aggravate her by telling her that. If she asks you anything about it you need to say that you intend to handle the money responsibly and then do that by not going on any outrageous spending sprees---take a portion of it out to use and put the rest in a money market account or savings account.
