What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia

Hi my name is Lauren and Im 17 and I recently had a baby about 4 months ago. I want to move in with the father of my baby he is 28 yes I know some of you might not agree but hey that's how it is and under Georgia Law there is nothing illegal that occured. My parents are trying to stop me from moving out**************.Can I just leave? will he get in trouble if I leave and stay with him? I mean I dont understand how he can get in trouble when there is a child involved. My point to my parents is that it's best for our son if we live together. I was going to leave once and they called the cops on me and the cops said I had to be 18**************and then the cop told my parents to take out a personal protection order on the Father of my child, even though he hasn't done anything wrong......he gives me money all the time and sees his son all the time**************.and now my parents want to bar him from the property and from seeing me**************I know I am a minor but how can my parents stop me from seeing the father of my child**************is that really in the childs best interest

Until YOU are 18, your parents are in control. And yes, they can prevent the father of the child from seeing YOU. Your parents are well within their rights to seek an RO to stop the BF from coming onto THEIR property. Come on - there is 11 years between the two of you.

BECAUSE you are a minor, silly girl. As long as you a minor your parents get to control everything you do and everyone you see. And if they have a problem with their minor child shacking up with a 28 year old man, who incidently got her pregnant, they have not only the right but the duty to stop it.

Don't give us this "it's best for the baby if we're together" crap. A four month old baby doesn't know or care if his parents are together.

It is in the baby's best interest to see his/her father. Not yours. A 27/8 year old man that has sex with a sixteen year old child and doesn't even take the effort to protect that child from disease and pregnancy should NEVER be allowed near said child again. What a POS this person is. Kudos to your parents for trying to protect you from this lowlife.

But?

Ok...everyone is telling me things I already know**************...listen nobody has to like our age difference but It works fine for us for now.As far as the protection order my mother needs to prove that I am in immenent, serious, and physical harm. I don't really see how to prove this since he has done nothing even close to this and has always provided for the baby**************.and the thing is my mother is trying to set me up with a 23 year old**************so her high horse thing about dating older guys loses all credibility with that doesnt' it i mean older is older.

Actually all your parents need to show cause for the RO is that an adult is interfering with THEIR parental rights.

just find a state that allows 17 year olds to get married, drive over, do the deed and then its over. You will be a legally married couple. Of course, two years from now, you'll be on hee trying to figure out how to get child support out of your deadbeat ex-husband...
