in new york state how can i use my parental rights to help my 30 year old, depressed, suicidal son who refuses help? my son lives alone and has never gotten married. his health is deteriorating, and he has shut himself off from the world. he needs physicatric help and refuses to get it. i fear that because he is 30 years old i have no way of coercing him into help. can i get some kind of legal authorization that would allow me to help my son? if so, what is the process to obtain this authority over my son? i reside in georgia (my son lives in new york state) are the laws different in these two states? if so, what are the differences and how would they affect this situation?
