What is the name of your state? California.

I am the daughter of the concerned grandparents. In the past few months my sister has gone from doing very well to almost rock bottom. She got pregnant 4 years ago with a man who has been on drugs since he was 14 years old & it took most of her strength to leave him after his relapse from rehab a couple years after my nephew was born. Right now things have taken a turn for the worse. She has gotten back with her ex and lost her apartment and is about to lose her job. It is my belief that she's on drugs again and is laying all the responsibility for my nephew on my parents.
My sister is putting so much stress on them it's unbelievable. Currently she is living with them and they want to kick her out but are scared for the safety of my nephew.

How would they go about getting custody of him? Is it even possible?
In a few months (unless she cleans up her act) my sister is going to have no job, no place to live, and be on drugs in the street w/ her boyfriend. With both biological parents in this condition will they still allow my sister to take care of my nephew? How can we prevent my sister from taking him down with her? What can we or my parents do?!?!?

Please help.

You really can't do anything at the moment except perhaps get a consult with a local attorney. Right now your nephew is in a safe environment.
