I live in Texas. A couple of years ago a lady ran into me. So recently I took her to court to pay for the damage to my car. She didnt not show so I won by default. Now how do I get her to Pay? She lives in OK. She says she doesnt have the money. She doesnt own anything but a car. Can I make a claim to her income tax next year? I know that can be down if you owe child support, etc. I just was wondering if I would ever be able to collect. Thanks for any help you can offer.

My response:

The procedures for "domesticating" your Texas judgment in Oklahoma are both complicated and costly. Unless your judgment is for more than $2,000.00, I wouldn't bother - - and just "take in on the chin."

Obviously, you didn't have any insurance either, so there's no one to whom you can send your damage claim to for payment.

Actually we both had insurance, but her insurance company wouldnt pay so I had to sue her. Does that make any difference?
