What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

Here is the problems on the ticket.

1. Parking ticket says i drive a nissan, when i have an acura.

2. it does not clearly say what I am in violation for.

3. it does not clearly say where my car was located.

I need advise on how to go about fighting this, i got the ticket downtown new york city....

on the side: It might be parking by a fire hydrant (but the fire hydrant had it's side caps off, so it was not working)

Irrelvant. Fire hydrants must be turned on for water to come out. That's what the big hex thingy on the top is for. YAG will be along shortly to answer your other questions.

Actually, it's usually a pentagonal thingy to thwart those without a hydrant wrench from turning it. Sometimes they have an even more bizarre shape to the valve stem to thwart vandals. But you're right, the caps are only there when we don't want to use all the outlets on the hydrant.

Gee, good thing no one's ever asked any of these questions before, eh?

What do you mean it does not clearly say this and that? Is it written on the ticket or not?

Is the ticket computer printed or hand written? If it is hand written then it may just be unreadable on the service copy. Go online to nyc.gov and you can view the original ticket and see what's actually written on it.

Also, you cannot make a judgment as to whether a hydrant is functioning or not. Don't park within 15 feet of one regardless of your opinion of its condition.

Funny, my wife complained about a similar hydrant the other day. She had the same opinion - that it was not functioning. I told her otherwise.

This wouldn't have happened to be in the vicinity of Madison Avenue and 44th Street, would it?
