Please, someone must know something about this? Am I posting in the correct location? Some additional information is that my Mom took my money and put it down on a house. Now she is selling the house and nothing is in my name. I want to get a lien so that it won't close escrow. Thank you for any help that you can give me. Bill

You will have to sue her and get a judgment. Then you will have to follow the lien perfection laws and rules in your state to get a lien against her real estate (if she has any) or her other assets.

Thank you Seniorjudge, Yes, she has assets {a house}. We are just afraid that she will be able to sell the house and hide the assets before we can get the ball rolling as the house is up for sale now. Is there still time? Is there any way that we could do this without a lawyer? Thanks again, Bill

Q: Is there still time?

A: Time for what? If you have not started your lawsuit yet, then that will take a long time.

Q: Is there any way that we could do this without a lawyer?

A: Do what? Sell a house? Some states require lawyer closings; I am not sure if your state does or not.

Q; restated; Is there any way that we could file a lawsuit on our own? Thanks, Bill
