How do I find out if i owe, and am i in trouble?

What is the name of your state? Washington
Long before we met, my husband had a job that when he left it he received a large amount of money. He was claiming 10 on his w-2. When the bank told him that the IRS was putting a freeze on his account, he spent 3/4 of what was in the account. He never heard from the bank or the IRS. How do we find out if he owes or not?

The freeze happened back in1994 or 1995.
My hsband if worried that calling would just bring unwanted attention from them.

Well you have to contact them at some point to sort this out.

Better now than later, because if interest and penalties are accruing, they will continue to do so until he makes some kind of effort to solve the problem.
