I've only had this mortgage for 1 1/2 years. We are currently on a repayment plan for 5 months back pay plus current month. Do I have to wait until the mortgage is current to sell the house? This is a joint mortgage (unmarried couple) do we both have to agree to the sale? And finally, what will happen to my credit is we sell the house so soon into the mortgage? Thank you for your help!

You can put the property up for sale anytime. Once pre-foreclosure/foreclosure action is commenced, the lender must approve the sale.

Both owners must agree to the sale.

Your credit will be better if you sell and pay off the mortgage rather than be so far in arrears.

Thanks

Thanks for your help. My friends told me my credit would be shot if I sold the house before 5 years.
