My ex-husband and live in kansas, have two daughters together and have been divorced seven years. He and his girlfriend have had an on again, off again relationship that is often violent and the fact that they are both drug and alcohol abusers only contirbutes to their squabbles. while they are not currently living together they have done so in the past and may do so again in the future. my problem is this; she is frequently abusive to my daughters as well as their father. He denies that she is abusive to the girls but in a drunken stupor has admitted to me that she is abusive to him. This evening my daughters both came to me with yet another incident of abuse at her hands that occured last evening. Finally i have had enough, the girls and i went to the lenexa police department and filed a complaint. this is the first formal complaint i have ever made even though it is by far not an isolated incident. the complaint we filed was an informational statement only, no criminal charges will be filed. The officer taking the complaint gave me that option but as there are no bruises she stated it might be difficult to prove. is it possible to obtain a restaining order against the girlfriend on behalf of a child? The kids are nine and thirteen and fully able to tell their side and dont want any contact with her.
