I co-own a piece of property with my ex. I have been waiting for almost a year for him to sell this property and completely dissolve the rest of our relationship. I spoke with a lawyer who told me that I was probably smart enough to figure out how to petition the court to force him to sell the property since it is not eligible for partition. But, I really have no legal experience and no money to hire a lawyer. How do I petition the court to force him to sell this? The longer we wait, the more money we lose, and I would like to continue my life without him. I can't afford to walk away from the money that I have put into this property. It's commercial property, no bank loan, no mortgage, it is owned out right. Listed as joint tenants with right of survivorship.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
