What is the name of your state? New York
I have been accused of stealing two chairs by a tenant who lives in the same complex that I do. She got the rental agent to come down with her and in front of the building where people could hear they intimidated me like a common thief. This happened on April 16th. I am 70 years old and I have never been treated like this in my life. I have been crying ever since,I am so upset. She said she reported it to the police. Can I report her to the police for accusing me of theft.

And what did the rental agent do or say to you?
The rental agent also treated me like I was guilty. She came down first and questioned us about the chairs and when we said we didn't take them she kept treating us like we did. She had the tenant waiting for her in the office. The rental agent went back to the office and had the tenant come down. the r. a. waited on top of the hill in her car and when she saw the tenant get out of her car she came down and that's when the tenant accused us of taking the chairs. the r.a. did nothing. every time I tried to defend myself she accused me of trying to talk over her. She said,You better remember your lease is coming up for renewal.

We had a picnic table that we bought and she got the maintanance man to bring it in front of her apt. My husband asked him why he was taking the table and she said, she didn't think it belonged to anybody. We weren't using it so my husband said,Go ahead and use it. At first he was angry but he still told her she could use it. I think she thought we were mad about the table and took the chairs to get even. Yesterday I just found out she got in a fight with another tenant and the police were here.

Police

At most, this is a case of filing a false report. One must know the report is false when they filed it. If the report was really taken, then the police will contact YOU and then you can tell them your side. Calm down. Some people have nothing better to do than to create trouble for someone else, especially if you live in apartments.
