I may have been accused of a crime, and I want to find out if there is a warrent out for my arrest or if I have been accused. It's in a county far away and the police there they are requesting that I come in and show an ID to find out. Who is allowed to recieve this information in Californa? Is there a way I can find out without going in?

????? The cops are lying to you. They have your driver's license & picture on file. They don't need to have you drive down and show them your license. They're probably planning to put you in a lineup, interrogate you, or just arrest you on sight.

If you really want to know right now, hire an attorney in the far away county to find out if there's a warrant. (Cops still may not say whether a warrant is outstanding.)

Don't talk to police without an attorney present. You already know you're under suspicion. Talking without an attorney will not help you more than talking with an attorney, and will almost certainly hurt you. SAY NOTHING. PERIOD.

If you don't want to pay for an attorney to find out about the warrant, just tell the cops 'requesting' your presence that you don't wish to drive clear over there to show them your driver's license. Sit tight and wait. If they do have a warrant, they'll send it to the cops in your county, who will add it to the 15,000 other unserved warrants they're going to get to real soon now. If you get stopped for a traffic violation, they'll grab you. Whether they'll make a special trip to arrest you depends on the nature of the crime. At the very least, if the cops take you to another county, they have to pay to return you when it's all over.

This is not legal advice and you are not my client. Double check everything with your own attorney and your state's laws.

My response:

No. Entrapment is when a law authority entices you into an "illegal act" that you would not have done, *** BUT FOR *** the authority having enticed you in the first place. Enticing you to go to a police station is not an illegal act. It's a ruse, and a ruse is not illegal.
