What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
A little background. My ex moved to Virginia 2 months ago. I am not from California, the only reason I am living here is because I was married to a man in the military. We have 4 children ages 4-11.
I am contemplating moving, and where to move to. I am a govt employee and am planning on applying for different jobs in a few different states to see which option is best and what I am offered. My ex has already said he will not oppose me moving out of state, especially considering the states I am considering are a lot closer to him.
I realize that I cannot file anything with the new state until 6 months of residency. My question is, do I need to, or can I just leave jurisdiction in California? If I don't file with my new state, can he? I guess I am just trying to get the ins and outs of what I would need to do and what I need to do to cover my rear.
