What is the name of your state? TX

I am seven months pregnant and I wanted to know how early I can FILE my child support paperwork. I am aware that the child has to be born to collect payments. I just want to know if I have to wait for the actual birth to send the paperwork in. I have been hearing several different things from several different people. I just am trying to get this taken care of asap so that all I have to supply is the information about the child...basically to cut down processing time. I have the application right now and it asks the question "Are you pregnant now?" and "When is the baby due?"
If anyone out there has any clue, please let me know.
Thanks.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! :p Here's the website addy for the Texas Attorney General's office: http://www.oag.state.tx.us/index.shtml

The link for child support is: http://www.oag.state.tx.us/child/index.shtml

Paternity must be established when the baby is born...that is sooooo important. Here's info on how to contact representatives who should be able to answer your questions:

"If you have questions about filing the AOP (Acknowledgement of Paternity), please contact the Office of the Attorney General's Paternity Opportunity Program at 210-804-6484 or by e-mail: [email protected]."

It's good that you have your paperwork ready to go. Give the Attorney General's Paternity Opportunity Program a call and they should be able to give you some good information and guidance.

HAVE A VERY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! :D

cubandoll,

Yes, a warm congrats to you!

I recently filed in TX. I was told I needed to wait until birth.

I filed online 2 weeks after my son was born (the quickest way they'll process). The NCP was filed with paternity establisment forms and we were both notified of the meeting date and time for the Child Support Review process less than a week later. The meeting was scheduled a month later.

This past Monday NCP called the Attorney General's office refusing to attend. By the next day, the office sent the necessary orders for me to sign to continue without his cooperation.

So, from my experience, TX is on the fasttrack. You can find out the specific office that will hanle your case on the link MtnMoon provided for the Texas Attorney General and have them send the forms so that you only have to key it in, or perhaps have someone drop them in the mailbox when baby is born.
