My wife was unfaithful and we have decided to separate, divorce is a possibility but not sure. I feel that she is buying time to win over our two boys and possibly custody. I know that adultery is grounds for immediate divorce but there is hope we can work things out. My questions are can I lose custody of my children if I do not file now. Can she actually get custody even though she was the one at fault? Can I see how a separation can work before asking for divorce on the grounds of adultery or will it be too late. Note I have already been told not to sleep with my wife until it is all said and done. help

Adultery is grounds for divorce, but it has absolutely nothing to do with who gets primary custody of the children. That is based on the best interest of the children. In any case, what is most likely to happen is some form of joint custody....at least joint legal custody (joint decision making) and a parenting time schedule.
