What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MD

My tenant's lawyer had sued me (my insurance) for a slip and fall csae on my property which had happened back in Feb. However, they made their claim with my insurance end of May. I have contacted my insurance company on regular bases to see wha tthe status is, but they say that they still are investigating. They had send one inspector to the house, but they said they need send one more to study the outside steps/front door where the fall took place). But they still have not. I have also requested them to do a expert weather report since based on my on research the day of the incident was a rainy and below freezing day, possible cause of the slip. They still have not done that either.

anyway, my question is, is it normal for the insurance company to take such long time (more than 5 months now) to conclude an investigation? Is there a reason for the delay?

I am suspecting the amount of the sue is anywhere between $50K to $100K since the tenant told me just his medical bills were $25K.

Thanks.
