How long can someone sue for a bad check

How long does someone have to sue you for a bad check? My girlfriend got something in the mail the other day stating that someone is suing her for a bad check. She thinks it was about 2-3 years ago. Isn’t there some limitation on this?

SOL on debts in CA is 4 years. If she doesn't want a judgment against her, she'd better make arrangments to pay up !

She got 'something' in the mail ?? Was it a SUMMONS ??

She is going to fax it to me today so I can take a look at it....we are just both surprised by this because there has not been any attempt on their part to contact her regarding this.
