I live in Connecticut. My landlord is selling his house. The closing date is January 29th. Last week the landlord verbally told us we have to move out before February 1st, or his deal falls through. Tonight he called us and said he will have to take legal action if we have not found a new place by this weekend. We are a family of three with a dog and an antique car in the garage and it is simply not that easy to find a new place for your family in a couple of weeks. Is he allowed to force us out like that? If not, how much time do we have? If so what options do I have?

well do you have a lease? then you can stay till it ends.

Without a lease he has to give you 30 days from the time you normally pay rent.....or March 1st....

So tell him if he wants you out it wil cost him at least $3000 to cover your moving expenses your security deposit and lost days from work!

and that is cash up front!
