What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

I filed with the court a request for a modification to my current custody order on November 30th and it is now December 10th, I have not yet received a court date. Is this normal that it would take weeks to receive a court date? I know someone else who filed for a modification a week or so after me and they already have received their court date. Their case is in a different state though, so I am trying not to assume that it is only because different states have different laws that they have already received a date. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

More than normal... sometimes months depending upon how busy the docket is... and its only been 9 business days.. besides which, you're just coming off of a long holiday weekend.

So when you called the court-house, what did they tell you?

That was going to be my next move, but only if the amount of time was abnormal, of which it is obviously not. Plus, I honestly didn't know if I could call the courthouse to find out that sort of information. I guess you can say I am rather anxious to get this ball rolling!

Yup, can understand the anxiety.

But realistically it's impossible to really gauge whether 9 days is short, long, inbetween or anything else - it's going to depend on what's considered normal according to that particular court's practices.

In my county, for example, 20 business days is considered reeeeeeeally fast. The county below me? You'll get your court date the day of filing or at the latest, within a week (!).

(I thought it was actually the county above me but then it occurred to me that if that was the case, said county would actually be in Canada...)
