How long should one keep bank statements, cancelled checks and bills?
Also, how long is a bankruptcy a blemish on one's record, 7 or 10 years?
Thank you in advance.

My response:

Debts stay on your record for 7 years, and BK stays on for 10. Therefore, and while there are no particular consumer laws on the subject, I would nonetheless keep records for 10 years.
