How to deal with difficult neighbor?

I live in MD

The family installed 3(three) 6-ft x 8 ft fences five to six years ago in our backyard partially where the neighbor can see us even short distance. At that time, the neighbor said it's OK and appears to be not bothersome to the neighbor. For that, we, the family was grateful for their cooperation and understanding, because we need 'privacy' when we are in the backyard doing little hobby that needs a lot of small painting and along with dog's barking whenever he see the neighbor.

However, now after five to six years later, the neighbor complained about the fences, saying 'it's eye-sore' and other derogatory words. Simply, the neighbor wants us to tear down the existing fences and install 'up-to-date' fences. If we does, it's expensive for us due to today's economy situation.

We, the family has been trying to be polite and nice because we, know that any neighbors are important to us and first of all, we plan to stay in this neighborhood and no plan to move out although we are truly annoyed by neighbor's offensive and un-neighbory attitude towards us.

Any suggestion as to 'how to deal with the difficult neighbor' would be truly appreciated.

Thanks,

move or a very tall (as tall as legally allowed) fence that is not see through in any way.

an attempt at humor although about the best overall solution.

anyway; if your fence sections are legal, tell them to leave you alone. If they aren't, expect to have to remove them. Whether you can afford to install a fence or not doesn't change anything you may be required to do.
