What is the name of your state? Virginia

Hi! I have several credit card debts from 3 to 4 years ago that I am now getting many collections contacts about. Early on, when I was desperatey trying to dig out of the debt I had gotten myself into, I probably paid some payments to collectors for a couple of the debts. Now, I'm approaching the SOL for the debts (they were originated while I lived in NC, but NC and VA have the same SOL for open accounts - 3 yrs), and I suspect I've got collectors trying to collect on accounts that are outside of the SOL.

Is there a way I can determine WHEN the last payment I made on any of these accounts were? I know the payments would have reset the SOL time period, but I'm not sure if I tried sending 20 bucks here or there to a creditor way back then.

I am trying now to rebuild my credit, but a lot of the collectors are asking for around $2000 for credit cards that originally had a credit limit of $300 - and I just can't pay them that much! :( If I could let them know that the debt is SOL and I dispute the amount, it would be great, but I simply don't know if I made payments in 2004 or whatnot, trying to "pay the debt down". Any help along these lines would be greatly appreciated!

Found it!

Nevermind!

I originally asked because I had gotten a "3 in 1" credit report from Experian, and the detail of the accounts didn't show anything other than the origination date. (which of course was listed as the dates the collections agencies acquired the debts)

I paid for an individual report from Equifax, and THAT report detail gave me all of the information I needed, including the date of last activity on each account.

So if anyone else is having this same problem, get an indivual report from Equifax!

Actually that probably isn't the correct date. But good luck.

Wouldn't it just be easier to pay your debt rather than to spend so much energy trying to get out of them?

PS if the debt originated in NC and you live in VA, you aren't coming anywhere near the SOL running out. The SOL froze when you left the state. Sorry, too bad. No loophole for you.
