How to dress for court

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio

Not a legal question but still would appreciate some advice.

Out of respect for the court, common sense tells me to dress in nice clothes for court, but I know my wife will show up in jeans and her work jacket. We are both blue collar people and I don't want the judge to think I'm some affluent business man and my wife is an hourly wage slave who deserves more than she is already getting. ( FYI the judge is a woman). This is for a dissolution hearing so no lawyers are involved, and we have our agreement finished.

So how should I dress?

Thanks,
Don

Dress nicely. Dress shirt and pants. You don't necessarily need a brooks brothers suit. And the judge being a woman matters not.

So says the attorney who went to court today before a woman judge and wore black boots, a leather jacket, black pants and a black dress shirt. My client wore jeans and a sweatshirt. The opposition attorney wore a nice blouse and pants with dress shoes. The opposing client wore jeans and a work jacket.
