How to file fed tax this year

I am recently divorced (10/06/00) and remarried (12/01/00)
My ex is asking me to file fed tax with her. I live in Florida (moved here in March 2000 from calif)
Do I file with My new wife or my ex and do I have to file calif taxes also?
I havent worked in over a year and am not sure who with or where to file. Anyone have any answers?

You cannot file with your ex-wife. Your filing status for tax year 2000 is determined by your marital status on December 31, 2000. You were married to someone else on December 31, 2000, so that's the only person with whom you can file a joint return.

Since you were a partial-year resident of two states, you will have to file a tax return with two states. States usually have a different tax form for partial-year residents.
