What is the name of your state? CA
I used the search function like a good forum newbie, and did learn some things, but not the questions I have. My parents have recently moved into assisted living in PA and someone from there from marketing advised me to obtain power of attorney for my parents. Step by step what do I do, and what are the advantages for my parents if I were to do this. What are the advanages to me as someone who takes on the responsability of their well being.

Thank you,
Ron

My response:

First, are your parents "of sound mind"? Would each or both understand what a POA is, and does?

Then, you go to PA to have then sign a POA in the presence of a Notary Public. However, you need to determine the breadth of the type of POA they, and you, will need. There are general POA's, there are specific purpose POA's, there are medical POA's, etc. So, you may need the advice of a PA local attorney to advise each of you concerning the specific POA you'll need.
