What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Florida
Some of you may remember my other posts about my situation- I own a mobile home on a rented lot in a park (lot rent is now caught up ) so that problem has been solved. My new problem is this:
Hurricane Jeanne damaged my home enough ( I no longer have a "home" I have a "sieve" ) that the county, Red Cross, and FEMA lists it as a total loss.
I recieved a grant from FEMA for "replacement housing", unfortunately it is not enough to do ALL of either of the following options:
1. Buy replacement mobile home, pay for cost to put on same lot, AND pay $2,500.00 to have ruined mobile demolished/removed.
2.Pay first, last, deposit, and monthly rent somewhere else (apt. mobile, etc) AND pay the cost of demolition/removal of ruined mobile. (2 other draw backs to this option are that my lot rent here is only $167.00 mo., my income is only $564.00 plus FS, and rentals in this county are virtually non-existant due to so many homes having been destroyed by the 3 hurricanes).
Even though I have been told by the health dept., FEMA and Red Cross that I should not stay in my home due to safety and health hazards, at this time we have no choice and are staying even tho we have gotten sick.
We have been given the opportunity to use my FEMA funds to relocate by a friend of my husband's, however, we cannot do so until the end of Dec. so I paid my lot rent until Jan 1 2005.
A neighbor has told us that they know of a man who is willing to take my mobile, remove it and use for parts- all I have to do is sign the title over to him. (This SOUNDS good because I don't have the money to pay to have demolished, however, I am legally liable to pay the lot rent as long as the mobile sits on lot)
I'm sorry that this is so long, but finally, here is my question:
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can sign over title and protect myself from being sued for lot rent IF new owner doesn't remove mobile from lot by Jan 1?
Thanks in advance,
Gracie
