What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MI

Son's father asked for and got a reduction in support. He claims to be without a job and showed proof of $326 weekly unemployment. He also said he's been unemployed for a long enough period of time he's looking at unemployment ending soon. When asked why he didn't immediately ask for the reduction upon becoming unemployed, he stated he didn't think it'd go on this long.

Prior to the filing and for however long of a period one collects before they get to a point in time where they fear benefits will cease, he'd been paying $551 a month. Our son has continued to be carried on his medical insurance, which I presume would go through COBRA at a steep cost. Last month he and I were discussing driver's ed for our son. I told him I had to wait to see how the numbers shook out. He went ahead and paid the $300 fee. He gives son $20 a month in allowance and paid for half of a $60 field trip. Lastly, I see this past weekend he's taken our son to California Pizza Kitchen, which isn't cheap.

These numbers just don't add up. $326 a week and he's spending like this? I have texts from him as recently as February saying he is "working". I imagine if asked he'd explain that away by saying he was working on his car, etc.

He is single and lives alone. Last year, he filed bankruptcy and had his house foreclosed on.

I was told that by the Friend of the Court that I'd have to prove he had other income. My question is what are acceptable ways to do this? Suggestions as to how I can prove that?

what was he making before he became unemployed. Did you stop to think he could be living off his savings? Many people in this age have been as they became unemployed and in your situation, it wouldn't change anything.
given the BK I understand the doubts of a savings but many people hide money (illegally) from the courts when filing.

basically, yes, you would have to be able to prove an income. The courts aren't going to care about speculation and they cannot set the child support based on speculation.
