My fiance and I are renting a home in MI. We let a friend move in to help him get on his feet until he left suddenly on very bad terms. He left a broken down car with no doors on it in the back yard, it has been a month and he has showed no signs of wanting to take care of it. Trash is piled up in it, it is quite the eyesore, and it is dangerous for my kids to play around. I want it gone but i dont want to have someone tow it away and get into legal trouble myself. What can i do, legally -if anything- to have it taken care of?

send the guy a written notice certified mail. Tell him he has 48 hours to remove it or it will be reported as abandoned and towed. He can retrieve it from the holding company if he wants it. I believe he will have 7 days to do so.
