I am working for a small CPA firm in Alabama, started the job in late Feb. Because (even after 10+ years of being a secretary) I stupidly worked too hard assembling tax returns and injured both of my arms. I am the only clerical person in my firm, they fired the other girl after my injury which has significantly increased my workload. When I agreed to take on the additional responsibility (6 weeks ago) it was with the condition of increased compensation. They've now delayed my review and raise to the extent that all others have been done. And now that my insurance has kicked in (3 month wait), I'm actually bringing home Less money than before injuring myself working too hard and taking on more responsibilities.
During the time I've been injured (2+ months), I've managed to keep up with all clerical responsibilities with the sole exception of being out for the physical therapy and doctor's appointments.
I turned in my 2-week notice yesterday - absolutely hit the wall. The primary partner said they'd been waiting for me to quit. Lovely. (Then he asked for 3 weeks instead of 2.)
The complicating circumstance is that I'm working to go back to school full-time this fall and will need Some form of income between now and when the school loans can begin. Is there anything I can do?
Any help would be Greatly appreciated.
