columbus, ohio, My husband worked for a car dealership, and recently switched jobs after 3 years of service. I work promotional sales at dealerships all over central ohio. I had two weeks of sales scheduled at my husband previous employers. They called my company and told them that since my husband no longer worked there. I was not allowed to work their sale and that they need to send someone else. I'm devistated. I really liked these people and can't believe they have hurt me, because of my husband. Is this discrimination? Do I have recourse? They have hurt me financially, let alone I may not be able to take over this district as manager, when mine moves, because now I am not allowed to deal with these 3 - dealerships. Help - Please

Hmm. Is there a conflict of interest issue coming into play here? Or is this merely their bitterness at your husband's departure? Do you have a contract with them? If not, they have every right to change their mind unless you had some sort of verbal agreement and you relied to your detriment on that agreement.

Thanks for replying. I called the former employer, and he said it had nothing to do with me; but since my husband no longer worked there, he did not want "Glen" or anyone from his family having anything to do with his business. Over a year ago I started with this promotional company. My husband's former employer introduced me. He asked my boss, that when it came to his dealerships, to please have me work their sales. So no, it is not in writing. And yes, it is because he is bitter with my husband. But does that give him the right to call my employer and say no.......AHHH I don't want to accept that this is all okay !!!!
