What is the name of your state? CA

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before. I'm helping my cousin filling out I-485 applications. Neither of us know much about the process. Is there additional paperwork she will need to fill out to adjust her status here? She came in as a student but her visa had expired a few years back. She has since gotten married and now has been married to a US citizen for a while now. She has just started the process of adjusting her status here. I have suggested for her to hire a lawyer to help her but since lawyers can be expensive, that will be her last option.

Another thing is, we noticed that when we printed the application package from the INS' website, there are some duplicates forms. For instance, two exact medical forms and 3 "Biographic" forms. We just want to make sure we turn in the correct forms.

Thank you for all your help.

The doctor should fill out the forms, but they usually just fill one and copy it. Original and 1 copy to USCIS (in sealed envelope from the Civil Surgeon), 1 Copy to Civil Surgeon, 1 Copy for applicant
The biographic forms are to be filled out and submitted in quadruplicate.

I-485 in itself is not enough, her husband who is a USC needs to file I-130 for her with all the required documents, she also needs to file for employment permit

No worries, honestly it is not that hard to do on your own, just requires some patience and good reading skills - makes sure you read every single word of the instructions and do not forget to include all the support that they request and fee.
