What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

I had a confirmed BK on Sept 16, 2010 and have a 3 year pay back plan.

I had to apply for SSDI or my long term disability company could possibly cancel my benefits. I applied in Feb 2010.

I get a notice yesterday that I have been approved for SSDI and I will be getting the monthly amount from SSDI(which will go down about 1200 dollars from the long term disability)

MY LTD ends Sept 2011, as there is a special clause noting I only have 24 months of LTD coverage.

There is also the SSDI retro payments that I am most concerned about at this time. Can the BK trustee take this lump sum? If not the BK trustee, who can legally take this money BEFORE I even "see" it?

The LTD company also wants the lump sum as an offset to what they have paid me in their plan.

As my income will drop to roughly 1800 a month from 3200 a month, I need advice on the legit aspects of this scenario

I appreciate all responses

What does your attorney say?
SSDI has been the topic of a few threads at Bankruptcy Forum and experiences have been all over the lot.
Post your question there and see if you get some responses.
