I'm not sure if this is defamation or not, I was in Boy Scouts of America. (yah...) Received Eagle Scout, Became a Junior Leader with my friends, I still had friends who were in scouts who were not the age of 18.
I was informed because I was friends with them, I could not be during Scouting Events because people might get the "wrong Idea", that I should wait to be friends with them til they turn 18. I rebuttle that I found it silly, Later the Scout Master informed me, that a parent complained about me and their son, "questioning" anything that might happen.
The Scout Master is a Police officer of 18.5 Years, The Kids dad was also a Police Officer, and after I apologized to him, thinking that Some how I mis stepped, with out realizing it and didn't wanna offend, he informed me he never said such things, and doesn't Trust the current Scout Master and prefers me there and believes I'm a great Role Model.
After Confronting the Scout Master, of this, he claimed it was just a "mis-interpretation" and I blew it out of porportion and should never of mentioned it to the kids parents because it had nothing to do with them. He informed Council that I was "grooming" (Thus terms as presented by parents and council, informed me that, I was trying to "groom, form" them), Thus Having me Banned from the TRoop, not allowed to communicate, with anyone in the Troop as they are on the function, can't help my best friend with his Eagle Project or go to his Eagle Ceromony, The Council wanted to take my Eagle Scout away, but some parents stepped in, stating that I have never done anything wrong, I worked to earn it, and they shouldn't take it away.
I was talked to by a State Police Officer, who was apart of the troop, that Doug informed him, that I was 'grooming', and so forth, and was lost about it, and wanted to confirm with me if it was true or false, and also talked with the other local city cop.
The Boy Scouts of America, Council informed me they Back The Police Officer/Scout Master, decision to have me Barred from the Troop, and the Church Represenative agrees also (whom I never ment?), But will not write it down, on why I'm barred.
The Police Officer, will not return any calls, and just informs my friend that I'm not allowed to help on his Eagle Scout Project and I better be no where around for those are the terms. If I do it puts his Eagle Scout at risk.
I had Parents inform me, that they will speak on my behalf of Character, and this issue, for it was discussed and brought up by the Scout Master to all the parents, and some boys, and some people who were not in the troop, on his side, and I was informed I'm not allowed to talk about it, by the scout master.
I was Curious if this falls under Defamation, or Slander?
-Considering, there were never any complaints, but he decided to state there were.
-He made up stories about me on camp outs, which everyone except for him denies, and he informs me, that he doesn't need to have his facts straight, its bad that I want them to be correct.
-This issue started, January 31st on Tuesday, and went into Feburary when he talked to council, and they Confirmed the "grooming" statement, and informed me I was "barred",
-Just about 4 Hours ago, I receive a phone call informing me, that I cannot help my really good friend, with his Eagle Project etc.
I know this is a long post, I apologize, I summed it up, because there is about.. 5+ Pages worth, and I don't wanna bore you, Im tired of this coming around and taunting me, I live in a town of 15,000 and want to Pursue Politics, and For the Past 8 Months, it keeps popping up, and just the other day I saw him in Wal-Mart, and I tell you what, you know the feeling of a huge drop in your stomach, and you feel sick, and kinda sad. Yah that was about it. Its Taunting, and I'm curious if theres any way to get it set straight that it was wrongly done, thus to prevent it popping up in the future, if I do pursue politics.
I informed BSA about, my future plans, and pretty much the response I got was, "not our problem, we won't give you any information to set it straight, because we dont wanna get sued so we won't give you any documents informing on why we made the decision".
She actually even told me it wasn't right, but I should use this chance to "spread my wings" and venture new things.
