What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alabama

We purchased a home 3 years ago and now are finding major problems that were not noted in the inspection report. The basement is leaking, the shower is leaking into the basement (we repaired this). We have already had to replace the AC unit. The laminate floors are coming up. All of the shelving in the closets have fallen down. (this is fixed) Now we have a sewer smell. We can't sell it without a loss, and can't afford major repairs (2nd baby on the way) This was newly remodeled when we purchased and we believed what we were told. Little did we know that the work was merely cosmetic and poor quality. Help we bought a lemon! Do we have any recourse? The house was built in the mid 70's. We paid above market price.
