What is the name of your state? Ohio

I bought a battery online from a company in California. When I received the battery it wouldn't charge or power my laptop so I called and they instructed me on a few troubleshooting tips ending in me just mailing the product back in exchange for a new battery. The new battery they sent me doesn't appear to work either. It would charge but wouldn't power my system. The charging process took about two weeks to get up to 66%. I emailed the company and they instructed me on how to fix the problem and told them if it didn't work. Of course none of their tips worked so I asked for a refund and they replied:

Hello,

Sorry for any inconvenience. Our refund policy allows us to refund item which was originally purchased within the first 30 days (Yours original order was placed on Oct 12, 2006). Also, since we had replaced one battery to you for a defective battery, you had used up the warranty. Therefore, we cannot issue refund at this time. However, if you are interested in purchasing any item from our website, we will issue you with discount or we can waive shipping charge for you. You can just simply present this email to one of our sales representatives. We will be able to assist your order.

Thanks,

Customer Services

They were aware of the problem from the beginning of the sale and told me to keep in touch on numerous occasions if I had any problems. However, after their 30 guarantee was over they stopped helping me and refuse a return. I have 15 emails sent to and from them dealing with this injustice. The battery was $72 so a full fledge lawsuit out of my pocket wouldn't be worth it besides the fact of stopping this company from continuing to steal from customers, I later found that the company has numerous complaints about it and even has an "F" status on the Better Business Bureau report so stopping their business would be a public favor. I was wondering what steps I should take to either get my money back and/or stop them from continuing to steal from customers and sell broken products. I'm 100% this company cannot be legal. If copies of our emails are wanted or the companies name (if I'm allowed to post) I will provide.

Thank you,

Unless you are willing to travel to CA to sue them in small claims court, you are probably out of luck. There just isn't any magic solution here. Maybe you could take them up on their offer to buy something else, maybe THAT will work, and you can get your battery elsewhere...

Darn...

Thank you very much for your help, I guess I'm just out of luck. I doubt any of their other items work given my experience and consumers complains online. However, I do wish there was some way to warn other buyers from this business, I don't like criminals.

Down with keybattery.com!

Spread the work I guess...

Thank you very much for your time,
