more than 2 years ago i had an affair, my husband and i seperated for awhile, he said he forgave me and we reconciled, he continued to verbally abuse me and got me pregnant with our second child, left me a week after he found out i was pregnant, filed for dissolution of marriage, i sent the paper back to him and told him i do not want a divorce, he has not since followed up on it, we continue to live apart, he has since been able to have his cake and eat it too in the sense that we are available to him whenever he wants to be a family, at his convience. i have been left alone the whole time to take care of and raise our children, i had to go get a job when i was 6 months pregnant just to make ends meet, i have been begging my husband to try again and come home, he seems only concerned with himself, it has been 9 months now and i told him to make a choice, he can't have it both ways, if he chooses to divorce me, or get a dissolution can i fight it? i do not want one, can i use the grounds of desertion? i live in ohio. what can i do to disable him from getting a divorce?

You can do nothing to stop someone from divorcing you. You don't have to agree with it, but you cannot stop it.

If he decides that's what he wants, stop making yourself available to him and get on with your life.

You will, of course, continue to have contact with him regarding the children, but you're a fool if you provide all the comforts of home for him. If he isn't currently paying child support, get yourself an attorney and get into court to have temporary support set. He hasn't forgiven you at all, and this is simply his way of punishing you.
