I was sued recently. I have always heard that anyone could sue anyone for anything and now I believe it. Starts out me and the x purchase a boat on a credit card. I get a bonus check half of the boat is payed off. Leave the X and she wants me to pay the credit card bill (of which had a lot more than the remainder of my boat). I agree, feeling bad that I supported her and now she cant afford to live on what she makes, under the condition that she doesn't charge on the credit card. She breaks the agreement and charges. I tell her Im not paying the credit card anymore and we need to come up with some agreement on how much is owed on the boat. She wants 3600 dollars and there is only 1500 owed on the boat. I tell her no, she sues and the judge rules in her favor. I had all my paperwork. Every check, every bank statement to show that there was 1500 paid on the boat that was 3000 dollars to begin with. I am confused. How could a judge do this. It will cost me 3600 dollars that I dont have just to appeal this in Texas. I have tried to play everything straight and got the shaft from being honest. What should I do I only have 9 days left to appeal and then she is going to want to collect money that I don't have.

worthless

HEY DIY45 why dont you move along so that people that might have kind words to say versus your mouth might be able to have the opportunity. Apparently you werent taught that if you dont have anything nice to say then shut-up. You sound like someone that is either very young and has nothing better to do or you just plain mean.

Well diy45 I did not realize this was a spelling test, however you were correct in what you said, just not how you worded what you said. So lets take a look at what you wrote and see what you did wrong.
Now what is wrong with this?
"did she use a machine to sew you?...or just needle and thread?"
Hmm. Well first thing the proper way to type this would be:
"did she use a machine to sew you? or just needle and thread?"
In typing, if you would have taken it, you would have learned that you should double space before beginning the next sentence, and just for your knowledge you single space after any other symbols such as commas, and the rest of the symbols. Now I can see a couple of things wrong with the way you worded your response.
1. After "sew you" you put a question mark followed by three periods. I would hope that I don't have to explain what is wrong with that.
2. You used two sentences, the proper way to write what you wrote would be as followed:
Did she use a machine to sew you, or just a needle and thread?
You should never start a sentence with "or", if you had paid attention in school you would have learned this in your English class, and or perhaps your Language class. Just for future reference before you correct some one ensure that you correct them in a correct manor. Have a nice day, and thank you MrsBlue.

Hi Zebedeze:
I'm not an attorney, but have gone through a similar situation in small claims court.
What you need to do is #1) appeal the decision (you may lose again, but it will delay a bit longer.) an appeal shouldn't cost you anything yet.
and while in appeal #2) file a counter claim against your ex for breech of contract.

If you told the judge at all that you agreed to pay the portion of the credit card bill, then based on my unfortunate experience, that is all she needed to hear.

By filing a counter claim, she will listen to your side.
Good luck!
