What is the name of your state? California

Someone posted a message on an Internet Forum that I always go. Last night before went to bed I found someone posted a message to expose my personal information.

Does this break the law? I don't know what to do.

Thanks !

BTW, how do I ask the Forum Administrator to find out exactly who that posted that message? or should I sue the Forum since they allowed that, I saw the information is still there.

What personal information was presented?

If you're talking address and phone number, that's not illegal if you're listed in the phone book; that's public information that anyone can access.

Contact the forum owner, manager, admin and ask them to delete the subject post.

Does this break the law?
No.

I don't know what to do.
See above.

Welcome.

You can certainly ask, but there is no obligation for them to provide.

You have NO basis to sue anyone. However, if you want to spend some money and time.... go ahead and file a lawsuit... in THEIR home state and county.

do you mean it is legal to expose other people's personal data without consent?

on an Internet forum?

It is legal?

What about what they said is not true? This really made me mad.

It doesn't matter whether you consented or not; if it's public information they can post it on a billboard on US 1 with or without your consent.

This is the first you've mentioned about any information that is incorrect; please specify.
