I understand what you said on my other posts, but I did see a lawyer...the best one in town. My friend is a lawyer at the same firm, so I thought I could trust them, but I feel that I got some bad advice and was even lied to. I just want to know the truth. The divorce lawyer told me that I cannot to pursue a divorce on adultery and that New York is a No-fault State concerning divorces, both which I know are untrue. Later I asked my friend why the divorce lawyer lied to me...he said that he does not like to pursue adultery cases because they are too messy and that he told me that New York is a No-fault State because he doesn't want me to hold out just to hold out. All I want to know is what the truth is. I really don't want to shell out hundreds of dollars to lawyers that are only concerned about their fees. Yes, I can afford an attorney, but I really do not want a divorce and would really just like to know my options at this point. It seems like the lawyers I have spoken to just want me to file for the divorce and get it over with...all they want is my money. They don't care about what I want. If its not too much to ask.....could someone please read my two other postings and help me out. I would really appreciate it. I came to this sight because I am lost...not because I am poor. Thank you.

My response:

I'm only responding to you out of respect for the fact that you seem to be quite sincere.

However, you've only seen one attorney. You are in a financial position to see another, or even two or three more until you are satisfied. Most people can't afford one. Considering what is "on the line" for you, that would seem to be the logical avenue for you to follow.

Apparently, you are unwilling to pay an attorney for 1 or 2 hours of time when you are in a financial position to do so. For yourself, that's unfortunate.

Please understand - - I am not arguing with you. How you deal with your legal affairs, and how you conduct yourself in these matters, is your business. Speaking only for myself, I am not going to take my time to research your questions when you are in a position to help yourself.

Perhaps, you are correct. Maybe someone else from these boards will come along and assist you. In good conscience, I will not.

I am a sincere and honest person. I am a car dealer and have been trying to give advice in that area on this web site. I am no lawyer, but I have read some of the postings and given advice where I can. I understand that you will not help me out...but these last three months have been total hell for me. I don't eat...I don't sleep...and I can barely work. I am running out of money and on the verge of a breakdown. I don't think the questions I have asked are too complicated...and in the time that you have spend telling me why you can not help me, you could have answered my questions. So please, by all means...help those who are poor....and don't bother with someone who always tries to help others, but never gets help when he needs it. Thanks anyways.
