i have no lease,but due to no work have been evicted

i live in a garage place that the owner never had inspected. I have a shower toliet and electricity. but no kitchen facilities. when we use more than one outlet sometimes it causes the breaker to trips. We are trying to get on our feet, and have been good tenants. He has let me be late before, due to the holiday season, work was slow. now he has asked me to leave he gave me one month from that date. the date to be out is the 14of feburary. I am having trouble getting steady work, i have applied for permament positions, but nothing, do i have the same rights as a lease person. I am 46 and will be forced out in the streets. My boyfriend also is here. we are getting more steady work. I am scared and need your advice. We dont have money saved up and our credit is not good, no evictions, but a lot of unpaid bils. so we will have trouble finding someone to rent to us. I have no credit cards, nor checking account, so please help me.

I am appalled this "jerk" responded to this woman in such a
"trashy" way. He needs to be barred from this site and possibly of any responsibility where he needs to give professional advice and responses to people who are just asking for a little help.

I'd like to put in a good word for djdj, and point out another side of your controversy.

djdj's style is interesting, without doubt, but his advice is generally outstanding. He knows a lot about how the rental situation really works, and the woman who wrote is really fortunate to have advice from him. He gives better advice than anyone would generally get from a lawyer.

Perhaps what you took offense at the fact that he attacked her status as a woman. But look through these pages of posting and find women begging for help because they can't cope in the world without expecting extra help: Isn't it illegal to evict me if I'm pregnant, especially at Christmastime, I have a child, I have no money, no husband, my boyfriend doesn't have money either, The nasty LL wants to throw me out because I have cats but I love my cats, I'm living in a dump, but don't tell me to move, isn't there a special law to protect me?

All of these problems are, of course, a follow-on to the old-fashioned notion that man is woman's protector and there are so many women who haven't adjusted their lives to the new realities. The best help that anyone can give them is to point this out to them and hope that they can take some of this advice.

So, don't be so hard on djdj. Looking beyond his style, I see a lot of real wisdom.

I agree with you on one thing younglsm. He does give good advice.......When he gives advice. I think what she is trying to say is, in his response,yes he did give advice but, he also insulted her. Now he could have just given the advice..Not the insults. DJDJ responded to a posting of mine, and his first line, just like all his other responses was "How dumb and stupid are you" Now to be honest, that is not needed. Definitely not needed coming from somebody who does not even practice law. People come her for advice and opinions. Not to be insulted and degraded. I will say Younglsm, I truly do enjoy reading your responses. Most people do make a post and put blame on the LL when in fact they are to blame. I have truly enjoyed the fact you make a post, but from the LL side of the situation. You handle your responses with professionalism and with out insults or degrading the person. Now sometimes, to wake the person up and get their attention, yes an insult is needed. However, every one of his post contains some type of ridiculous insult. Are you dumb, stupid, a communist, a loser, trailor trash, etc.

Lots of people lie, LL and T alike, especially in order not to pay money. I give advice on both sides.

djdj doesn't practise law, but there are lots of attorneys out there who can't give the advise that he does. Maybe he should practise law (but then you probably couldn't afford to get advise from him).

People come here for advice and opinions, and you got djdj's. So get your money's worth and listen to him. If you don't like his advise, as him for your money back.

I'm sorry that you have such a delicate ego, but the world is a hard place. You should learn to participate in the give-and-take without getting so bruised. djdj is a real New Yorker (not like Hillary Clinton). If you and so many others would learn how to make your way in life by the basic rules of business, the Communists wouldn't be able to offer Utopia to people who can't cope.

actually i have a wondeful landlord, i respect him like my father, very decent person and so is his wife, it really is a respect issue, you want a nice place to live, and when things break you would like the landlord to have them fixed pronto,

In exchange you pay your rent on time, and if he lives downstairs you are a little courteous and not blast music when they are home, take you shoes off and walk quietly up the stairs if you are coming in at 3am-4am I am also a dj no kidding.

I really dont think that is at all rediculous to ask for.

But i have also dealt with trailer trash landlords like the one karen has to deal with and eventually out of self preservation you will learn how to protect yourself.

BUT first most people have to get really really angry and pissed off before they will listen and change.

Thats the point if karen or you hates my guts thats fine as long as she straightens out her life, and never gets into that bad situation again....I think that is the best help we can give her.
