What is the name of your state?calif

i was served termination of tenacy. We complied and moved out and in a new place. We left alot of junk behind due to such a short notice that was given
to us after living there for 16 years. The notice was served 10 days before
Christmas and it did rain alot so not much could be done since they wanted
us out of the house so bad. The day after we were out they already had
contractors in.

My question is: Can he charge me above and beyond my security deposit for costs occurred for cleaning up the property?

Also since we were forced to move am I even responsible for this?

thanks
regards shov :D

I don't know about laws in your state or anything, but I have been charged for trash removal. I had a little altercation about ten years ago with the rental office and got so upset that I told them 10/31 was the end of my lease, and I was out of there! So... because I didn't put it in writing they charged me two months rent, and a trash removal for hangers!

Good luck, I'm not sure how much they'll charge you. Is it a property management company, or a private landlord? It might just depend on how you parted ways, or you might be following the policies of a large management company.

I myself paid 50.00 for leaving a couple hangers. But... at my last place I realized after I left that I forgot to empty the cabinet above the refridgerator that stored all of our alcohol. You better believe we didn't get charged for that one! lol

its a private party they wanted the house i gave it to them and work has begun on the inside in preparation for the sale of the home new carpets paint etc its going on the market at over $500.000 they have $750 of mine and they claim to clean up the back yard will cost $1500.00. my feelings are you booted me you got your house and i lefyt them a little present too lol. but really due to the time of year there wasnt time (because it rained almost evreryday for a month) to get the backyard done let alone the money for dump fees on such short notice after dumping $4000.00 plus for the new place.

Do you have a lease in writing that you would be responsible for this kind of stuff? I'm no expert by any means but they need to be realistic about all of this.

My biggest piece of advice that I give everyone is invest in pre-paid legal services. Mine is 17.00 a month, and it is so worth the piece of mind. My husband was laid off and they didn't pay half the money promised in his severance contract... well, we just got a check for the full amount because we got our lawyer involved. I just come here when I'm antsy and can't wait for them lol. For example I have to go talk to our rental office tomorrow, and I can't wait for the ppl lawyers to call me back.

Hopefully someone on this board can give you a better answer. I'm just speaking from my opinion on what I think is right and wrong. haha.

Good Luck,

Michelle

Was this trailer trash that you left behind, or did you eventually take yourself, and your family, away from the premises?
