I'm in Arizona
I paid a visa bill, marked the check payment in full, and then even sent a letter to close the account. Now they are trying to assess additional interest charges that accrued while the check was in the mail or something like that!
This is why I marked the check as I did!
I have already been turned over for collection, but will write a letter of protest (another one) and send a copy to the VISA company, the collection company, and TRW!

I thought if you paid an account, and marked the check paid in full, then that was that and there was no recourse.

Please help!

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

Sorry bud, this time you are incorrect. They CAN charge for interest accrued on the outstanding account until they receive your payment. That is why you should always (if you know you are paying it off in one lump some) ask them to calculate the total debt owed (including interest accrued up to a certain date -- a date you know by which they would have received your payment) and then send that. You may wind up having a refund check sent to you for overage you paid -- like 6 or 7 dollars or something.
