I'm due in court Thursday June 16th, 2011 for a DUI I got in 09 in Georgia, and I now live in Washington state. I ran into a huge problem with my Lawyer. I've been trying to contact him through phone calls and emails for a month now to figure some things out and he never returned any of my calls. I flew into Georgia and met with him in person and he is now asking for $5000 more dollars to be able to go any further and I don't want to, because I do not trust him. He tells me this 36 hours before I'm to appear in court after I've tried to contact him for a month and never got any calls back. Last year in 2010, I had two court dates, once for a preliminary hearing for my license and the second on I thought would be the final court date to determine my fate and they continued it. Months pass by and I contact him every now and then trying to figure out when I'll be in court again in because I wasn't receiving any mail and he had no information. I finally call the court house myself in October of 2010 and they tell me I missed my court date back in March of 2010 and their has been a warrant out for my arrest in the state of Georgia. I reopen my case myself and the warrant is dismissed. I called my Lawyer afterwards and he immediately tells me he has to call me back and never does, so I called him back leaving him a message about my new court date.

I'm helpless, I don't know what to do.. Should I just plea guilty, or can I talk with the courthouse and continue my case on a later date so I can hire a another Lawyer?
