I am a 40 year old white woman. I was arrested about 3 years ago for embezzelment of money and drugs from a former employer. I was sentenced to 3 years probation and pay back restitution. I have been clean for the last 1 1/2. This past Thursday, the 17th, I was arrested at a local Dept. store for shoplifting. I dont know what came over me. I am really not that kind of person. I have done this maybe 2 or 3 times in the past, but when it happens is usually when there is a family problem that arises. Which is the case here. It seems that I turn into a totally different person when problems arise. They didnt take me to jail, they let me go, but to report before the judge tomorrow, August 21. I havent told my probation officer and dont know if I should. I need to know this. I also need to know what to expect from the judge. Will I have to go to jail ?? The items I got caught with only totaled $360.00, so it is just a misdemeanor. They told me $500.00 or over would be a felony, that I was really lucky on that. I wouldnt be as worried if I werent on probabtion already. That is what has got me so upset. Please advise me as what I need to do. I dont have a lawyer, do I need one ?? PLEASE HELP ASAP....
Thanks....

There is something I don't believe about your story, but I can't quite put my finger on it... I am curious though - when you say "I am not that kind of person"... what kind are you referring to? Criminals? Because you ARE indeed a criminal, not in the same league as murderers or rapists, but a criminal none the less. My advice? You may not believe me, the best thing to do for your own sake would be to plead guilty.

DUH..... Yes I intend to plead guilty. I am guilty. Why would I plead otherwise ?? And Yes I do know that Im a criminal but not by my own hands. I dont believe that I do these things intentionally. I have another side to me that does this whenever problems arise. But your reply didnt answer my initial questions. So why did you reply at all ?? Read the submitted questions first before you reply with a stupid answer.

ok... what is it you want to know, if you can get away with an insanity plea?

Yes. You may as well tell your probation officer. It will come out anyway. Depending how they handle it in your state, you'll have to face the ramifications of probation violation. At times mitigating circumstances are considered.

Maaam, obviously you have a problem with working hard for something and would much rather just take from others. You sound like a real winner not willing to take responsibility for your actions.I hope they send you to prison where you belong and you can think long and hard about what you did.Obviously you had no reguard for the law even though you were shown leniency for your first offense.Go to prison where you belong and reform yourself,we have no need for people like you in society.
