What is the name of your state? Indiana
I have a 14 year old son that has been diagnosed with ADHD since he was 5 and bi-polar about 2 months ago. He has been in trouble since the 5th grade. Doing the typical ADHD stuff, (fidgeting, tapping fingers, blurting out stuff, etc.) We have asked for help since the 5th grade but they said that there is nothing that can be done that he is just a trouble maker. Recently the doctors have been trying different meds to help him. Another boy at school at been mouthing him and my son punched him in the face. He got suspended and we sent him to a behavioral hosp. for 8 days. He has been doing better. Well a couple of nights ago he attended a ball game and the asst. principal's daughter came up to him and he asked her why her dad disrepected him so much. She just went off on him, yelling at him and calling him a jerk. After the game her dad shows up on our doorstep yelling at us telling us that our son was harassing his daughter and he wanted to know what we were going to do about it.. My question is did he actually have the right as a school official to do this and would we be able to file a restraining order against him so that he will not come around my son anymore. I am going to start homeschooling him.

Sorry - can't help with the actual question but I highly reccomend this book.

"Right-Brained Children in a Left-Brained World: Unlocking the Potential of Your Add Child"

It is a great approach to understanding ADD kids.

Special education plan?

ADHD students should be eligible for some kind of accommodation plan, such as an IEP under the IDEA laws, or a Section 504 plan under civil rights law. These plans give your child certain protections, including protection from discriminatory practices, as well as accommdations that your child may need to manage their behavioral and academic problems. Contact your school's special education office and demand an eligibility evaluation. By law, the school is supposed to actively seek out students that are eligible for IEPs and Section 504 plans.

Yes, all schools are suppose to help children with these type of problems thru special ed or 504 plan. But as you have already seen, schools fight to no end to get out of helping children. It is very corrupt.

You are very wise to do homeschool. There are so many more opportunitites for socialization (positive I might add) and activities than public school will EVER offer.

We started homeschool back in March for my youngest child after I got so tired of fighting for 8 years with 6 schools in 2 different districts for 2 of my children and one grandchild.
It is just horrible and most parents don't even know what's going on.

As for homeschool, do a search for the 'official' homeschool agency in your state. They can help you with every aspect. The laws you have to follow, support groups, curiculum help, and even more.
I love it and wish all children could be homeschooled.
