I paid the mortgage on my parents home, we lived in one house they lived on the same property in another house. I had their mortgage book in their name and paid via my check every month ($768.00)directly to the bank. My mother not only claimed the interest on the mortgage (which she never paid) but she never claimed that money as income at the end of the year on her taxes.
Somehow I dont think that is legal?
This went on for over 5 years.
Can the IRS go after her now?
I now own all the property as I bought it from her.
Any help would be great.
Diane
