What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana

I moved in this 3 bd apartment in August. I was late this month on rent, I called them on the 1st and told them I would be about 15 days late and I would pay the $5 a day fee. So on the 14th I wrote them a check for the amount with fees, the manager called and said after the 10th they can't accept a check, they needed a money order, also told me I had a $208 credit b/c they are connected w/ the hospital I work for and on the 3rd month I receive a $250 credit, and I had 208 left, so on the evening of the 18th I dropped of a money order for the rent plus late fees minus the 208 credit. I guess the 18th AM they turned it to their attny who files stuff w/ courts. I got a letter from them on the 20th and it stated the amount due was the exact amount I paid. I figured since they filed in the AM and I paid in the PM it wouldn't matter, but I called them. The girl there said she didn't really know b/c the manager takes care of it. Then on the 21st I got a letter from the apt. manager dated the 19th saying she received my money order but there was 208 missing and if i paid it before court date it would be dropped. So I called again yesterday, manager not there, but she said that on my acct. it shows a 17.00 balance not 208, but to call back Monday.

this evening a dept collector gave me a paper, says at top "summons and notification of claim for possession of real estate" Date of 12/3 at 1pm. I called the office again, she told me to again call back Monday, but that she assumed to disregard it since I already paid.

If they accepted and cashed the money order and I have the letter stating that was the amount owed by the attny. am I okay? I'm making myself sick with worry.

My husband isn't pay support and I'm working for 12 crappy bucks an hour, not making it...

You need to respond to the suit and appear on the court date unless you get it confirmed by the COURT that the case has been dropped.
