What is the name of your state? New Jersey.

My mom died last March 2006. She named my oldest sister as Executrix, she lives in FL. All togoether, there are 4 of us, 4 sisters named in the will. The will simply states that everything left by mom, will be split 4 ways. She owned 3 houses, 4-5 lots here in NJ, and a double wide trailer in VA, on 4 acres.

My one sister is taking the double wide that she has lived in, rent free, for the past 3 years, but, paying all utilities.

I have lived next door to my mom, for the past 11 years, taking care of her, and my dad until he passed away 3 years ago. I payed my dad rent, when I could. I also payed all utilities. after dad died, my mom became quite hard to handle. She had Alzheimers, congestive heart failure, HBP, a brain tumor, and many other illnesses.
It was extremely difficult, taking care of her, because she was so demanding, and could no longer cook, and hardly able to walk.
I myself was diagnosed with Lupus, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Fibromyalgia.
Therefore, we had to hire caregivers to help out, at the rate of $12,000.00 a month!
I still did what I could for her, shopping, etc.

The house that I live in, my dad built in 1946, and the basement leaks, and is covered in mold, making my illnesses worse. We are selling this house, my moms house that sits on 2 lots, and the vacant lot in back of me.

One of my sisters is taking the 3rd house in NJ as part of her inheritence.

Last night, my oldest sister in FL called me, to tell me that she got a letter from my sister in VA, claiming that she is owed about $10,000.00 from the estate!
Her reasons are for the money it cost her to come up to NJ to my parents house to help me out every few months, the food she bought, her dentist, and any phone calls she made to my mom, or me, or any of my sisters!
My oldest sister and me find this ridiculous!!! No one asked her to come, it was her choice to do so.
My question is, does she have any legal grounds to stand on, to collect the money that she chose to spend, to come to my parents?
She is already getting the double wide on 4 acres in VA at the appraised value, PLUS, money to bring her share up to what my oldest sister and me will inheret, after the estate is settled!

Any advice would be truely appreciated! This just doesn't seem fair at all!
I'm sorry to have rambled on, but this is getting so complicated!

you will need to address this and file any objections to how the will proceeds are distributed through the probate court in which the will was filed.

The personal representative is the one who decides what the siblings recieve, based on the estate value & the will. If the values of the real estate are balanced out to everyone elses satisfaction, it should be the sister in VA who would need to protest the settlement. This would mean she has to prove that the estate is required to pay her back for the costs she is claiming. Unless she has something from Mom agreeing to any payment, I don't think she will have much luck. Since there is real estate in Fl to deal with, I know you need to file through formal probate & need an atty. I just went through this last year for my dad. The atty should be able to answer this & probably send a letter to sister that might solve the problem without a major argument. Good Luck
